Jerry Barton

Hazlehurst-  Mr. Jerry Barton, age 74 passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center.  Mr. Barton was born in Brunswick, Georgia on Dec. 8, 1944 to the late D.J. and Claudia Kersey Barton.  Mr. Barton was retired as a welder and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hazlehurst and was a member of Jeff Davis County Veterans Association.  Mr. Barton loved music and singing, westerns and especially loved traveling.

Survivors include his wife of over 26 years, Olean T. Barton of Hazlehurst; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James David and Regina Barton of Hazlehurst and Robert Rimes of Alma; two daughters, Charmion Winters of Avon Park, FL and Sherri Haynes of Alma; grandchildren, Courtney Daniels, Lee Barton, Bryant Taylor, Ryan Rimes, and Wayne Rigdon, Jr. and great grandchildren, Jayda McCall, Bentley Yawn, Laycoln Sharpe, Sawyer Barton, Nolan Taylor, Adrian Rigdon and Braylen Rimes.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hazlehurst with Rev. Eddis Kirkland and Dewitt Corbin officiating.
