Janice Glisson Whitley

Claxton- Mrs. Janice Glisson Whitley, age 77, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025 at her home while under hospice care. Mrs. Whitley was born in Statesboro, Georgia to the late Aubrey Glisson and Edna Kight Glisson. Mrs. Whitley was a retired teacher with over 35 years in the classroom at Pinewood Christian Academy and 10 years teaching GED courses at Smith State Prison. Mrs. Janice enjoyed photography, art and loved to draw. She loved music, played the guitar and was a life-long member of Bull Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janna Whitley Moore.

Survivors include her husband of over 54 years, Leroy Whitley; her sons and daughters-in-law, Micah and Latisa Whitley of Claxton and Evan and Elaine Whitley currently traveling in the medical field; son-in-law, Kent Moore of Augusta; grandchildren, Levi Whitley, Virginia Whitley, Aden Whitley, Abby Whitley, Mia Whitley, Carrie Whitley, Bess Moore, Isaiah Moore and Mickey Whitley and numerous cousins. 

Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the funeral home. 

Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Bull Creek Baptist Church with Elder Tom Sollosi and Pastor Josh Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
