Janice Marie Williford Dennis passed away on April 19, 2017. Janice was born November 23, 1943 in Denver, Colorado to the late Roy and Evelyn Williford. Shortly after her birth, she returned to North Carolina where she lived much of her life. She was a graduate of Armstrong State University and taught school for many years. Her favorite subject was Title One Math, and her most memorable moments were when her students and grandsons had their “aha” moments upon understanding a mathematical equation.
When she retired, she took her teaching skills to her church and community, teaching Sunday School and Bible Studies. She was active in Isle of Hope United Methodist Church and later in Pembroke United Methodist Church. She was also a lay speaker for the local Methodist conference. She was an active member of the Coastal Georgia Walk to Emmaus community and was instrumental in building up the North Bryan County group.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Eddie Dennis, her daughter, Sarah (Ronnie) Williams, her son Ed (Karen) Dennis, and her sister, Iris (Philip) Amon. She was most proud of her seven grandsons – Charles, Chris, Jack, Eddie, Eli, Tucker and Hunter.
Her caregivers - Debbie Dixon, Katrina Harris, Marie LaVant and Valerie Powell - have provided love, care and support to Jan and the family throughout the years.
