Ellabell
James Oscar “Doc” Wilson, Sr., age 91, passed on to be with the Lord Saturday, April 09, 2016. Mr. Wilson died at home with his wife, Sara, of 67 years, by his side. He was born February 28, 1925 to parents, Ellie and Nora K. Wilson. Dr. James Oscar Strickland, who delivered him at home, told Mrs. Nora that this birth would be the last of her 11 children. For this reason, Dr. Strickland said that the child should be named after him. Since then Mr. Wilson has been known as “Doc” by his family and friends. Mr. Wilson was a native and long-time resident of the Olive Branch community, where he loved to farm the land that once belonged to his parents. He retired from Union Camp Corp. as a welder with over 28 years of service and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. Mr. Wilson was an avid fisherman, farmer and excellent heavy equipment mechanic before a tractor accident in 1988 prevented from doing so many of the things that he loved.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Motes Wilson of Ellabell; two sons James O. Wilson, Jr. (Margie) of Powder Springs and Wesley Wilson (Cindy) of Ellabell; one daughter Barbara W. White (Clayton) of Ellabell; 5 grandchildren, Brian Wilson of Statesboro, Michael Wilson (Shipa) stationed in Japan, Crystal White Morrison of Port Wentworth, Patrick White (Bridget) of Ellabell and April Wilson of Ellabell; and was doubly blessed with five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Olive Branch Baptist Church from 10-11 A.M.
Funeral Service will follow at 11 A.M. with Rev. Clint Sullens officiating.
