Mr. James Edward “Smokey” Thomas, 63, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Augusta University Medical Center. Mr. Thomas was born on April 30, 1953 in Hinesville to the late Alvin Nelson and Ruth Adel Minus Thomas. He worked in the construction industry, attended Southland Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing, animals, was an excellent cook and loved helping others.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Louise Tigue.

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Vinell Elaine Thomas; three sons, Billy Oglesby and his wife Penny of Stilson, Richard Oglesby and his wife Debbie of Twin City and Randy Lee Adams, II of Collins; two daughters, Drucilla Stokes of Collins and Heather Stokes of Brooklet; three brothers, Gilbert Thomas of Collins, Paul Thomas and his wife Cindy of Bloomingdale and Alvin Thomas and his wife Linda of Portal; two sisters, Brenda Adams of North Carolina dn Nancy Mitter of Metter; 11 grandchildren including Lana Baker, 4 great-grandchildren, 24 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at Elim Baptist Church Cemetery.
