James C. “Big Jim” Hart, 71, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Mr. Hart was born in Moultrie, GA on May 5, 1946 to the late Emmitt and Audrey Faye McCrannie Whisnant. He served proudly for 27 ½ years in the U.S. Army, specifically the 4th BN 229th Flying Tigers Attack Helicopter Regiment as a Command Sergeant Major, with three tours of duty in Vietnam and one tour in Desert Storm and numerous overseas deployments. Not only was he a respected and admired military man, but his family was his greatest achievement. Big Jim also was the owner and operator of Hart’s Tavern in Pembroke and Hart’s Roofing, Inc. in Savannah. Other than the military and his family, he enjoyed singing karaoke, dancing, cutting grass, bass fishing, was a people person and enjoyed barbequing on his Hart’s Stokin’ N Smokin’ Grill.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Mitchell and Richard Hart and one grandson, Victor San Miguel.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Patsy G. Hart; son, Christopher D. White and his wife Laura of Springfield; three daughters, Tina San Miguel and her husband Sam of Colorado, Paula Weslager of Colorado and Jamie Chea Cowart and her husband Justin of Pembroke; one step-son, Joseph Swords and his wife Anna of Savannah; two step-daughters, Mary Kay Dietrich and her husband Bernie of Ohio and April Gresham and her husband Bobby of Texas; two brothers, Mickey Hart and Graylin Hart both of Atlanta; two sisters, Linda Ann Hart and Mary Hart both of Atlanta; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11 A.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jessie France officiating.

Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at the Harden’s Chapel Cemetery in Vidalia.

Now, let the Big Dog eat and mission accomplished, Viper 07. Rest in peace soldier, salute and Hooah!!!
