Jack Perry Short

Mr. Jack Perry Short, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. Mr. Short was born in Carrollton, IL to the late Adrian Short and Margaret Morehouse on August 18, 1945. He retired from the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam and as an air traffic controller, and achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. In addition to his career in the army he also worked as a crabber and ran his own marine repair business. He later became a franchise owner at Snap-on Incorporated for 30 years, and was highly regarded in the business. In his spare time, Mr. Short enjoyed reading and riding his motorcycle. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James Short; brother, Jerry Short and sister Jean Potwora. 

Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Short of Gresham, OR; son, Darryl Short and his partner Kevin Gould of New Zealand; four brothers, Mike Short and his wife Kathy of Edwardsville, IL, Harold Short and his wife Bev of TX, Randy Short and his wife Deborah of Mesa, AZ and Geoff Morehouse of Albuquerque; two sisters, Karen Munt (Tom Stank) of Jamesville, WI and Jan Hewitt (Tom Rolfe) of Huntsville AR; three grandchildren, Kellie, Whitney and Craig; 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday August 13, 2024 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
