Mrs. Helen Suzanne Johnson Kendrick, age 75, passed away at East Georgia Regional Medical Center on Monday, September 20, 2021. Mrs. Kendrick was born in Savannah to the late Sidney Lee and Frances Lee Walden Johnson on October 11, 1945. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pembroke and attended Harville Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and crocheting. Mrs. Kendrick was a state employee for 30 years at Gateway Community Service Board and later transferred to the Department of Transportation and also was part owner with her husband at NAPA in Pembroke and Joe’s Tire and Auto Repair.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Joseph Franklin Kendrick, Sr. and daughter, Helen Suzanne Turner.

Survivors include two children, Walter Edward Turner and his wife Shannon of Ellabell and Patti Smith and her husband Tony of Ellabell; sister, Margaret Elizabeth Sheppard and her husband Tommy of Florida; 3 granddaughters; one grandson; one great granddaughter and 2 great grandsons; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Flanders Powell Funeral Home on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with Doctor Lawrence Butler officiating.

Interment will follow at Lawrence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19, face mask and social distancing are mandatory.
