Ellabell

Helen Rita Carter Davis, age 89, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 at St Joseph’s Hospital.  Mrs. Davis was born to the late Ira Lory Carter and Margaret Duggar Carter on September 30, 1927.  She was a life-long resident of Bryan County and was a homemaker.  Mrs. Davis was a member of Beulah Baptist Church for over 45 years, where she formerly served as nursery worker, music director and was active in Vacation Bible School.  She loved to sew, making quilts and sitting on her front porch watching her birds.  Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ralph “Cooter” Davis; one daughter Kitty Davis Myers; and all of her siblings, Sarah Smith, Margaret Cook, Annie Laura Parnell, Gertrude Davis and J.H. Carter.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Ira “Buddy” and Teresa Davis, Renard and Becky Davis, Dows and Haroldene Davis and Don Davis all of Ellabell; one daughter and two sons-in-law, Faye D. and Dennis Hendry of Ellabell and James A. “Junior” Myers of Ellabell; eight grandchildren, Connie Conley, Rita Cobb, Marie Sanchez, James Davis, Adam Davis, Jessie Hurt, Angel Page and Robbie Hendry and 15 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 6-9 P.M. Monday, June 5, 2017 at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Bryant officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
