Harry Theodore Powell

Mr. Harry Theodore Powell, age 79, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Friday, August 23, 2024. Mr. Powell was born in Dublin, Ga to the late Roosevelt and Lizzie Powell on May 24, 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was later retired as an iron worker with Ironworker Local 709. Mr. Powell was an avid Nascar fan, loved hunting, turkey shooting, working on cars and drag racing. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Delores Kicklighter Powell; son, John McDowell and his wife Sabrina and Mark McDowell, Sr. who is preceded in death and his wife April McDowell; three grandchildren, Mark McDowell, Jr. and his wife Taylor, Shelby Volkert and Hunter McDowell; four great grandchildren, Cayson, Ella, Waylon and Aiden and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunay, August 25, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rusty Rushing officiating.

Burial will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, 19536 GA 144, Richmond Hill, Ga 31324.
