Bloomingdale-Harry Joe Derverges, Sr., age 81 passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at his residence after a long illness. Mr. Derverges, Sr. was a member or Pineora Baptist Church and enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, and crabbing. He retired from Buoy Hall & Howard Contractors of Savannah.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Victoria Jackson; parents, Rufus and Mammie Derverges; and son, Harry Joe Derverges, Jr.
Survivors include his five daughters, Darlene Williams of Ellabel, Shannon Derverges, and Angela Tant of Bloomingdale, Sheila Coleman, and Rhonda Coleman of Guyton; three sisters, Becky Piercy, Lucile Stone, and Pauline Dykes all of Savannah; and fourteen grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Pastor Dwayne Dasher officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Wallace-Derverges Family Cemetery.
