Mrs. Geraldine Murphy Peoples, age 82, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 while under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Mrs. Peoples was born in Bulloch County to the late Jim and Ruby June Murphy on October 19, 1934. She was a long-time resident of Pembroke, was an active member of the Pembroke Senior Center and was retired from Andy’s IGA after 30 years of service as store clerk and cashier. Mrs. Peoples was an excellent cook and loved to fish and crochet. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, J.D. Peoples, son, Billy Peoples, Sr. and granddaughter, Anna Peoples.
Survivors include two sons Kenny (Ernestine) Peoples of Ellabell and Ricky (Nena) Peoples of Pembroke; three daughters, Judy (Johnny) Fanning of Groveland, Jerry (Stevie) Shurling of Richmond Hill and Patty Jenkins of Pembroke; one brother, Jimmy Murphy of Prattville, AL; one sister, Betty Powell of Pembroke; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Bryant officiating.
Interment will follow in Northside Cemetery.
