Pembroke- Mrs. Georgia Colson Hughes, age 85, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014 after an extended illness. Mrs. Hughes was a long-time resident of Pembroke and dedicated herself to child care for over 25 years. During that time, see taught numerous children to both read and write. Mrs. Hughes also worked at Pembroke Manufacturing for over nine years and was an excellent baker and decorator of cakes. She loved poetry and playing the piano and was a long-time member of Pembroke Christian Church. Mrs. Hughes was predeceased by her husband of over 62 years, Robert Tatum Hughes and a sister, Marion Kicklighter.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Theron and Bonnie Kay Hughes of Pembroke and Sandy Roger Hughes of Pembroke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Billy Glosson of Dublin and Majoy and Jack Waters of Eden; brother, Gordon Colson of Claxton, sister, Juanita Lott of Metter; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Rev.
