Garner Salter, age 75 passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at his home while under the care of his family and Ogeechee Area Hospice. Mr. Salter was born in Savannah on October 18, 1942 to the late Grady and Alma Salter. He was an industrial mechanic for Georgia Pacific in Rincon and enjoyed deer hunting, running his dogs and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Kaye Cowart Salter of Black Creek; two sons and daughter-in-law, Tim and Priscilla Salter of Pooler and Eli Salter of Black Creek; one daughter and son-in-law Caitlin and Chris Lovejoy of Wilmington Island; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Alton and Brenda Salter of Darien, and Kenny Salter of Guyton; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Robert VanGiller of Black Creek; four grandchildren, T.J., Austin and Preston Salter and Gwendolyn Lovejoy; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Doctor Brad Butler officiating.
Burial will follow at Lower Black Creek Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kaye Salter, 5021 Wilma Edwards Rd., Ellabell, GA 31308
