Claxton-Mr. Franklin Pierce “Buddy” Shuman age 75 passed away Thursday October 23, 2014 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in the presence of his loving family.  Mr. Shuman formerly of Pembroke had lived in Claxton the past 12 years where he attended the Claxton Church of God.  He was a U.S. Marine veteran and served during the Lebanon Uprising.  He was retired as manager of Home Furnishing Company of Claxton and loved to travel, antiquing, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents William Pierce “Doc” and Katherine Ruth McGowan Shuman, and son and daughter-in-law Jackie and Belinda Shuman, sister Helen Dunn, and brothers Wesley and Jimmy Shuman.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Jan Shuman of Claxton, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Sheila Shuman of Reidsville, sisters and brother-in-laws Lavonne and Buddy Burnsed of Pembroke, Tina and Clyde Hall of Orangeburg, S.C., and Mary Sapp and Jr. Warren of Clito; half-sisters Dot Bass, Mary Sue Smith, Penny Sue Woodcock, Bonnie Noe and Carol Brady, and half-brothers Pierce, Nelson, and Ronald Shuman, four grandchildren Kyle Shuman, Chelsey Shuman, Thomas “Tommy” Shuman, and Elizabeth Dixon and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 5-8 P.M Monday October 27, 2014 at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Tuesday October 28, 2014 in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Greg Ely and Reverend Leland Jeffers officiating.  Interment will follow in Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at Glennville at 1 P.M.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Claxton Church of God, 11982 Hwy. 280, Claxton, GA. 30417.   Flanders Morrison Funeral Home of Pembroke is in charge of arrangements.
