Franklin Johns

Black Creek-  Jesse Franklin Johns, age 72, died Thursday morning at his home after a long battle with cancer.  Mr. Johns worked in the family business, T & O Concrete in Black Creek for over 20 years and was also a heavy equipment operator for over 20 years.  He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed giving family and friends vegetables from his garden.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Shirley Ophelia Cowart Johns.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Malett and Phillip Orren of Black Creek, two brothers, Bill Johns of Monks Corner and Bobby Johns of Statesboro; grandchildren,  Ophelia, Tabitha, Dixie and Noel Orren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kaye and Garner Salter, Brenda and Carl Worley, Joe and Pat Cowart and Thomas and Brenda Cowart and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6-9 P.M. Friday, August 22, 2014 at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Saturday, August 23, 2014 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with interment to follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.  Flandersmorrisonfuneralhome.com
