Pembroke- Mr. Eugene “Junior” Burnsed, Jr. age 62 passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at his home. Mr. Burnsed was born in Claxton, GA to the late Eugene Burnsed, Sr. and Jo Ann Lee Burnsed. Junior was a long-time resident of Pembroke and dearly loved his community. Before his life-changing auto accident in 1974, Mr. Burnsed was an excellent billiard player and excelled playing baseball. He worked as a service attendant at Richard and Gertie Grocery Store in Ellabell and worked at Pembroke State Bank. Junior was avid NASCAR and Atlanta Braves fan and loved playing cards. Mr. Burnsed was a member of First Baptist Church of Ellabell and attended Pembroke United Methodist Church. He was loved by his community and will be missed by those he visited with daily. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burnsed was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Edward Burnsed.
Survivors include his sister, brother-in-law and caregivers, Lora Ann and Charles Kangeter of Black Creek, sister and brother-in-law, April Jean and Mark McDowell of Brooklet; one brother, Joseph Randall Burnsed of Ellabell; several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and his dog, Cocoa.
Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 3 P.M. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with interment to follow in Lower Black Creek Cemetery.
