Pembroke- Ernest “Ernie” Lewis Parker, age 69, family man and Christian, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at his home after an extended illness. Born on September 29, 1953, he leaves behind a legacy of cherished moments, brutal honesty and meaningful contributions to the people he loved. Ernie’s life was a tapestry of passions. A dedicated outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and teaching his children how to appreciate nature. He was also an ardent sports enthusiast, especially softball, and generously shared his knowledge as a devoted coach for his daughter’s softball teams. Beyond the field, Ernie’s poetic soul resonated with his love for music, creating a symphony of words that touched hearts on paper, print and canvas. He adored listening and sharing his favorite music from dusk to midnight and beyond in the log cabin “paradise’ he built on the winding dirt road in Pembroke, Georgia.
A retiree of Gulfstream Aerospace, Ernie prioritized his family, leaving his career early to care for his beloved wife, Sharon Royal Parker, the love of his life, who passed away in 2016 after an eight-year fight with ALS. His devotion to family extended to his children, Caleb Parker of London, England, Amanda Leigh Fox of Louisville, Kentucky and Hillary Danielle Parker of Pembroke, Georgia and grandchildren, Brayden, Audrey, Bruce, Rowan, Bridgit, Connor, and Finnick. Ernie’s impact also encompassed his role as a son and brother, survived by his mother, Evie Lee Parker and his brother, Brian Keith Parker, both residing in Savannah, Georgia.
Visitation will be held 1-3 P.M. Monday, September 4, 2023 at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
A service celebrating Ernie’s life will be held 3 P.M. Monday, September 4, 2023 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Brannen officiating.
He will be laid to rest beside his cherished wife at Bethany Church of Ellabell following the funeral service.
