Mrs. Emily Pickett Smith, 65, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born on August 20, 1950 in Winchester, TN. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Savannah Christian Church and was a member of the Animal Rights Movement and Wildlife Conservation Society. She enjoyed animals, taking pictures of wildlife, crocheting, and sewing. She was always interested in discovering and learning new things and was also interested in history, geography, historical monuments and architecture. Mrs. Smith was an accomplished pianist and previously served as the pianist for the First Baptist Church of Pembroke. She received an Associate degree from Valdosta State University as was retired as a paralegal.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Wilson Pickett and Dorothy May Pickett.
Survivors include her son, Marcus Goins of Statesboro; fiancé, Patrick Colindre; biological mother, Barbara Yohannan of Pensacola, Fl; brother, W. Wilson Pickett and his wife Cheryl of Richmond Hill; niece, McKenzie Pickett Williams and nephew, Chase Pickett.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Albert Hill officiating.
Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.
