Edwin Hardy "Squire" Futch, Jr.

Mr. Edwin Hardy “Squire” Futch, Jr., 77, passed away at Ogeechee Area Hospice on Friday, February 7, 2025. Mr. Futch was born in Bulloch County to the late Edwin H. “Hoss” Futch, Sr. and Evelyn Hughes Futch on October 26, 1947. After high school, he served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War. After serving the military, Squire worked as a Railroad Electrician for 7 years at Seaboard Coastline Railroad, then he worked as a supervisor for 25 years with the GA Ports Authority Railroad and then became the owner and operator for 34 years at Ed’s Locomotive and Track Service. He was a member of Countryside Baptist Church in Guyton where he served as a leader in many ministries. In his younger years, he loved playing softball and bowling. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, spreading the word about Jesus and spending time with friends and his family. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Futch and sister, Edwina Carter. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Dianne N. Futch; two children, Angie Kline (Todd) of Hicksville, Oh. and Eddie Futch (Wendy) of Bulloch County; two brothers, Jimmy Futch (Dianne) and Larry Futch, Sr. (Barbara Jean) all of Bulloch County; five grandchildren, Joshua Kline, Jacob Kline (Michaela), Zachary Futch (Arielle), Christian Futch (Clare) and Gabe Futch; two great grandchildren, Freya Kline and Ira Kline and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home. 

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel. 

Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery with military honors.
