Mr. Edward Francis Nolan, Jr., 73, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Bryan County Health and Rehab. Mr. Nolan, Jr. was born to the late Edward F. Nolan, Sr. and Marjorie Bacon Nolan on February 10, 1943 in Savannah, GA. He spent his childhood as a military “brat” and moved frequently as his father was re-assigned. After he graduated high school in Talladega, AL, in 1960 he joined the Army and attended the United States Military Academy Prep School in Fort Belvoir, VA and then was assigned to the Old Guard. In January 1963, he met the love of his life, Bonnie; they married six months later. Edward and his family moved to Pembroke in 1972 where they lived for 22 years. Edward and his brother Steve opened a business in Pembroke selling and repairing appliances and TV’s. Their business then extended into Claxton, Vidalia and Hinesville, GA. Later, Edward left the business and repaired computers with various companies. In 2009, he opened his home printer repair business and retired in 2012. He loved sailing, snorkeling and sail boarding. Both he and Bonnie enjoyed traveling to many Caribbean and Hawaiian Islands from 1984 – 2011. Edward, Jr. liked to play golf with his dad and Edward also discovered that he had a talent for creating things from wood. He and Bonnie built a log home in 1994 in Richmond Hill where he constructed all the sink bases, cabinets, doors, wood floors and other furniture. He loved riding his bicycle and wore out several sets of tires. He spent most days working in the yard and enjoyed the outdoors. Edward was a hard worker, loved his family and said that all he needed was his wife Bonnie. They were devoted to one another for 53 years. He was the epitome of a true southern gentleman, quiet and reflective. Bonnie called him a math wizard too. Edward will be forever missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bonnie Nolan; son, Edward F. Nolan III (Brittney) of Rincon; brother, Steve Nolan (Margaret) of Pembroke; sister, Marjorie Wilson (James) of Powder Springs, GA and granddaughter, Maddy Naman of Rincon.
