Ellabell- Edward Walter Murphey, age 91 passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021. Mr. Murphey was born in Swainsboro on May 24, 1930 to the late Willie Walter Murphey and Edna Leola Gregory Murphey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany during WWII. He was retired as an oiler for Union Camp with over 45 years of service. Mr. Murphey love westerns, tinkering with equipment and singing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Murphey was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Donna Murphey, brothers, Thurman Murphey and Kenneth L. Murphey and sisters, Bessie Walseth-Samec and Sara Odum.
Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Debbi Davis of Ellabell, Linda Diann and Dave Whitten of Suwanee and Carol Berger of Midway; grandchildren, Nathan Whitten, Lindsay and Jeremy Delain, Emylee Whitten, Bryant Murphey, Kyle Murphey, Jessyca Griffen, and Kolby Berger; two great grandchildren, Liam Delain and Leila Delain and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be 1 P.M. Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Gravel Hill Cemetery with Dr. Thad Harvey officiating.
