Dorothy Horne Perks

Ellabell-  Dorothy Jean Horne Perks, age 90 passed away Monday, April 8, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  Mrs. Perks was born in Tarrytown, Georgia to the late Jim and Irma Lee Phillips Horne.  She was a long-time resident of Savannah before moving to Ellabell.  While in Savannah, she was an administrative assistant at WSAV and later served as program manager of WJCL.  Mrs. Perks also sold real estate for the remainder of her career.  She enjoyed crafts, collecting dolls and playing the piano.  Mrs. Perks was a member of the Georgia Real Estate Board, a member of the South Chatham  Lions Club and a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Perks was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James "Jim" Sherwin Perks, and her brother, James L. Horne.

 Survivors include two sons, two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Johnson of North Augusta, SC, Jeff Perks of Charlotte, NC, Tony Perks of Ellabell and Leann and Gene Clifton of Savannah; one sister, Sue Taylor of Vidalia and ten grandchildren, Lance and Priscilla Johnson, Brett and Ashton Johnson, C.J. and Lindsay Stafford, Kaylee Perks, Kasey Perks, Chad Grefski, Hollie Hutto, Kevin Johnson, Keith Johnson and Michelle Sturgess and numerous great grandchildren.   

 Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. until noon on Friday, April 12,2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Savannah, GA 

Funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Webb officiating.

Burial will follow at 2 P.M. Friday, April 12, 2024 at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
