BLOOMINGDALE: Mrs. Doris Waters, 77, died peacefully early Friday, May 6, 2011 after a long illness. She was born in Baxley, GA to Elizabeth and Maxie Doyle Evans, July 18, 1933. She was one of seven children. She moved to Savannah in 1953 and was the mother of three children and … Mostly though, she loved her family: her daughters, Marlene Ball and husband Jeff of Ellabell, GA. Brenda Molina and husband Eddie of Austin, TX. Her son, Leon Carl Mincey, Jr. of Dalton, GA., step daughter Shirley Collins of Savannah, and two step children who preceded her in death; Jacqueline Novak of Atlanta, GA and John Paul Mincey of Baxley, GA. She was close to her sister Christine Skinner of Crescent, GA, brother Lawton Evans of Savannah, GA and twin brother Horace Evans of Onalaska, TX, sisters, Ruth Briley and Wilma Knight of Baxley, and brother Maxie Evans, II of Savannah, will prepare her place beside them with our Lord. She was a favored aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Doris married Richard R. Waters of Colonial Williamsburg, VA and Savannah in 1983. They have lived in Bloomingdale since 1992. They shared a love for the grandchildren; Darlene Novak, Michael Novak, Joseph Kesler, Dustin Walls, Kevin Kesler, Jefferey Cooler, Heather Cooler, Leon Carl Mincey III, Rachelle Molina, Joshua Mincey, William Mincey and Evan Molina. Doris had 10 great grandchildren who referred to her as “Darlin”.

 A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Glennville, GA
