Dolores Kennedy Speir

Pembroke-  Mrs. Dolores Kennedy Speir, age 91 passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at her home.  Mrs. Speir was born September 19, 1931 in Pembroke, GA to the late Wiley Ivey Kennedy and Essie Lee Lane Kennedy.  She was a legal secretary for W. Roscoff Deal attorney at law for 11 years and for superior court judge, John R. Harvey for 25 years.  Mrs. Speir was a member of First Baptist Church, Pembroke for 75 years and was the pianist at the church for many years.  She was a wonderful seamstress and made many of her daughter’s clothes when they were young and enjoyed collecting dolls.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Speir was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Melvin L. Speir and one daughter, Melanie Lea Speir.

Survivors include her daughters and a son-in-law, Joanne S. Burnsed of Pembroke and Delane S. and Dana Blocker of Pembroke; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Jewel Kennedy of Pembroke; one sister and brother-in-law, Bonita and Jack Futch of Pembroke; grandchildren, Drs. Myra and Michael Ammermon, Joel Burnsed, Jr. and Liza Burnsed, Melanie Walker and Jake and Lauren Blocker; great grandchildren, Adelyn, Esley, Mick, Speir, Riggs, Speir, Daniel and D.J and her caregiver, Teresa Chaney.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2023 at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at First Baptist Church, Pembroke with Dr. Brad Butler officiating.

Interment will follow in Northside Cemetery.
