Dick Benjamin Gardner

Pembroke-  SFC retired Dick Benjamin Gardner, age 75 passed away Monday, May 29, 2023.  Mr. Gardner was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Howard E. Gardner and Frances Stratten Gardner.  Mr. Gardner retire from the United States Army with over 21 years of service.  Two of those years were served in the Vietnam War.  After his retirement, he worked in maintenance and repair for the Bryan County School System for over 8 years and enjoyed wood crafts and fishing. 

Survivors include one daughter of Florida; two sons of Michigan; one sister, Maxine D. Gardner of Michigan; loving friends and caregivers, Mistie and Jason Strickland of Pembroke; loving friends,  Angel and Keith; his best friend of 48 years, Lori Amick and his canine companion, Princess Jean.

A memorial service will be held 3 P.M. Monday, June 5, 2023 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with military honors.
