Daniel Drew, Sr.

Mr. Daniel Inman Drew, Sr. 94, passed away at Ogeechee Area Hospice on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Mr. Drew was born in Milledgeville, GA on September 25, 1926 to the late Lamar and Myrtle Chapman Drew. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later worked as a diesel mechanic for over 15 years with APC. He is a member of the Guyton Methodist Church, member and Past Master of the Richard T. Turner Masonic Lodge F & AM #116, member and former Southern District Grand Officer of the Effingham Shriner Club and enjoyed racing at Oglethorpe Speedway Park.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Norma Barnwell Drew; son, Daniel Drew, Jr.; daughter, Cynthia Cook two brothers, Lawton Drew and Roger Drew; four sisters, Edwina Parrish, Daisy Futch, Bertha Parrish and Dorothy Hanson.

Survivors include seven children, David Drew and his wife Barbara, Rita Larson and her husband Tom, Kenny Drew and his wife Sheila, Shelly Hemphill, Don Drew and his wife Becky, Wendy Joyner and her husband George and Joe Drew and his wife Amy; brothers and sisters, Ronald Drew and his wife Violet, Paul Drew and his wife Kandi, Judy Drew Bland, Myrtle Drew Watson, Lamar Drew and his wife Sylvia and Margaret Griffith and her husband Wendell; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Chip Strickland officiating.

Burial will be held at Ash Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
