Clyde I. Howell, Jr.

Mr. Clyde I. Howell, Jr age 90 of Ellabell passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  Mr. Howell was born in Hinesville to the late Clyde I. Howell, Sr. and Rena Wells Howell.  He lived a number of years in Savannah before moving to Ellabell in 1972.  Mr. Howell was retired as iron worker with local union 709.  After his retirement, he was a long-haul truck driver for many years.  He took pride in his trucks and enjoyed keeping them spotless.  Mr. Howell enjoyed westerns, NASCAR, the Atlanta Braves and was a member of South Newington Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Howell was preceded in death by one sister, Marian Osteen; two grandsons, Steven Moore and Joe E. Howell, Jr. 

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Hilda Hayes Howell of Ellabell; sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde I. Howell III of Statesboro, Joe and Renee Howell of Ellabell and Danny and Kim Howell of Brooklet; daughters and sons-in-law, Rena Hales of Brunswick, Darlene and Mike Hills of Savannah, Kimberly and Don Coyer of Eden and Karen Bryant of Eden; five grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and other family members.

Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Friday, January 12, 2023 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Banks officiating and Rev. Steve McCoy assisting. 

Interment will follow in Lower Black Creek Cemetery
