Captain Michael Clemmons, Sr.

January 16, 1955 — April 29, 2021

Guyton

Captain (Retired) Michael Wayne Clemmons, Sr., 66 passed away peacefully on Thursday April 29th.  Mike retired from the US Army after serving 20 years as an Infantry Soldier. He loved this country and was proud to defend it. He then became a middle school teacher with a passion for helping children learn. He made learning easy and fun. After retiring from teaching, he worked with the Ebenezer Alive school program. He was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School director, Brotherhood director, VBS director and many other positions.

Throughout the past 25 years Mike became a Skydiver. He instantly fell in love with it and quickly progressed to become a Tandem Instructor where his true passion lied. Through this he touched thousands of lives including many of his family members.

Mike always had a smile on his face and a way of making others smile and laugh.

He was called Magic Mike because he always carried simple magic tricks with him everywhere he went so he could put a smile on everyone’s face. He is preceded in death by his mother Annie Clemmons Laflamme; father James Clemmons Jr; brothers James Clemmons III and Raymond  Clemmons.

He is survived by his wife Kathy; children, Michael and Macon Clemmons and Christopher Clemmons; grandchildren Dylan and Pricilla Clemmons, Kelly Clemmons, Alexis Clemmons, Mallory Clemmons and great grandchildren Kaiser and Kendrick Clemmons; siblings Pat Austin, Debbie and Ed Carter, Sharon and Bill Thomas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Sand Hill Baptist Church with Chaplain Brad Tripp officiating, assisted by Rev. David Feldkamp.  Military honors provided by the United States Army.
