Mrs. Betty Ann Edwards, age 85, passed away at Candler Hospital on Friday, February 26, 2021. She was born in Savannah on March 8, 1935 to the late Lucious Jackson Kendrick, Sr. and Maxie Catherine Simmons Kendrick. Mrs. Edwards was employed for 28 years in the Deli Department at Piggly Wiggly where everyone loved her pork chops and she was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Gordon Milton Edwards; son, Robert Milton Edwards; three daughters, Patricia Ann Stafford, Debra Jean Messex and Sharon Philyaw Pevey; three brothers, Lucious Jackson, Jr., Joseph Franklin and Billy Kendrick; two sisters, Louise Brown and Lois Free and one grandson, Ronald Craig Stone.
Survivors include her daughter, Cathy E. Evans of Savannah; brother, Ricky Kendrick (Louise) of Pembroke; two sisters, Joyce Johnson of Ellijay and Mary Smith of Brooklet; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins and her constant canine companion, Momo Edwards.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow in the Morrison Memorial Chapel with Doctor Lawrence Buter officiating.
Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.
