Mrs. Avis Marie Ulmer Lanier, 86, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Azalealand Nursing Home. Mrs. Lanier was born on March 13, 1935 to the late Vernon Marion and Mae Hinely Ulmer in Savannah. She was co-owner of Eastern Travel Service for 29 years, was a member of Silk Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband 68 years, James E. “Jake” Lanier.
Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Darlene Schlabach and her husband Paul of Lawrenceville, GA and Janet Marie Tyson and her husband Richard of Garden City, GA; sister, Louise Mae White of Bloomingdale, GA; five grandchildren, Jeff Pope, Kara Anderson, Wendy Pope McAdams, Matthew Tyson and Mark Tyson; 12 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jonathan Phillips officiating.
Burial will follow at Ash Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
