Savannah- Ann Yvonne Mitchell Chavira, age 85 passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. Mrs. Chavira was born October 12, 1935 in Griffin, GA to the late M.T. Mitchell and Kathleen Mitchell. She was a homemaker and taught at the NAHA Elementary School in Okinawa, Japan. Mrs. Chavira loved taking care of children; enjoyed quilting and crocheting and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Delfin A. Chavira; two children, Michael Chavira and Sonia Chavira Anderson and one brother, Billie Shelton.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mannie and Pam Chavira of Bloomingdale and John and Michelle Chavira of Savannah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Norman Chapman Rincon and Laurie and Danny Ray Bazemore of Black Creek; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Visitation will be held 1-3 P.M. Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the funeral home.
Funeral will be held 3 P.M. Sunday in the chapel with interment to follow in Northside Cemetery.
