Mr. Alan Greenwell, 65, passed away suddenly at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Mr. Greenwell was born in Bardstown, KY to Lloyd Greenwell and Helen Boone Greenwell on June 24, 1959. He served proudly for 17 years in the U.S. Air Force and later retired with Hawthorne Global Aviation Services as a fuel systems specialist. Because of his security clearance, anytime Air Force One landed in Savannah, he was the only one that had the clearance to fuel Air Force One. Mr. Greenwell was a proud lifetime member of the NRA; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, canning, gardening and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Greenwell and sister, Diane Rogers.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Kathy Bacon Greenwell; two children, Kelly Arnold (Chris) of Glennville and Kevin Greenwell (Kathy) of Ellabell; 7 brothers, Morris Greenwell, David Greenwell (Ann), Ernie Greenwell, Fred Greenwell (Nicki), Daniel Greenwell (Dana), Curt Greenwell (Angela) and Kent Greenwell all of KY; 6 sisters, Terri Sims (Tommy) of KY, Martha Campbell (Randy) of Atlanta, GA, Jane Lindsay (Chris), Lisa Gill, Linda Goode (Mike) and Mary Jo Yaeger (Ricky) all of KY; 3 grandchildren, Adrienne (Kelsey), Ryan and Hunter and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home, 197 South College Street, Pembroke, GA 31321.
Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Ellabell with Reverend Joe Holloway officiating.
Burial will be at the First Baptist Church of Ellabell Cemetery.
