Pembroke- Mrs. Margaret Cowart Strickland, age 86, passed away Friday, May 29, 2015 while surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Strickland was a life-long resident of Pembroke and worked at Cowart’s and several other local restaurants as a waitress. She loved serving people and taking care of her family. Mrs. Strickland was an excellent cook, loved her flower gardens, enjoyed dancing and took great pride in her appearance. She attended Beulah Baptist Church and was predeceased by her husband, Eddie Pharis Strickland, one son, Ted Strickland and her parents, Bessie Davis and Benjamin Cowart.
Survivors include her daughters, Patsy S. Barnard of Pembroke, Barbara Ann Smith of Pembroke, Nancy Strickland of Pembroke and Lisa Crawford of Ellabell; one sister Josie Joyner of Pembroke and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held 6-9 P.M Monday, June 1, 2015 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Bryant and Rev. Tony Powers officiating. Interment will follow at Northside Cemetery. Flandersmorrisonfuneralhome.com
